One thing that Dartmoor is not short of water and so it is not surprising that there are quite a few legends and traditions associated with the pools, wells, springs and rivers of the moor. After all the area takes its name from a river and like many of the other water features it has a spirit of its own. Some of the waters will cure and others will kill, there appears to be no halfway house. This section deals with the sprites. saints and such like that are found in association with the waters of the moor.
